Chico ISD is pleased to offer a full day pre-kindergarten. The objective of the pre-kindergarten program is to provide a solid foundation of school success among children of the age of four prior to entering kindergarten. The goal of pre-kindergarten is to reduce the probability of school failure for at-risk children. The program stresses intensive language development in preparation for kindergarten. The program is open to any four year old that resides in the Chico ISD school district. Please note there is limited availability and students who meet one of the State of Texas program eligibility requirements will be placed first.
Child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2024

Economically disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced price lunch program)
Unable to speak and comprehend the English language. Students will be tested and must qualify for limited English proficiency.
Homeless
Child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority. Document must be provided.
Child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty.
Child who has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing.
Child whose parent/guardian has been the recipient of the Star of Texas Award. Proof of award must be presented (certificate, letter from governor, letter from state representative).
